Chris Brown: Rihanna's Assault Is a 'Private Matter'

Nine months after being attacked by then-boyfriend Chris Brown, Rihanna told her side of the story to Diane Sawyer – a move Chris was less than thrilled with.

"I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us," he said in the statement to MTV.com. "I do appreciate her support and wish her the best."

Rihanna recounted how the "Run It" artist beat her over and over again, after they had an argument about a text he received from another woman. Chris didn't respond to any of the details Ri gave of the Feb. 7 incident, but he did take the opportunity to apologize once again.

"I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept accountability for my actions," he said. "At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God."
