American Pie and Election star Chris Klein was arrested last week for what was his second DUI in five years. On June 16, the actor was pulled over after dangerously weaving in and out of traffic (he reportedly had his dog in the car with him at the time) with his blood-alcohol level well over the legal limit.
Now Klein, 31, who could face a minimum of four days in jail if convicted of the recent DUI, is finally seeking help. People reports that Klein has entered a 30-day treatment facility in Utah (though he will reportedly stay longer, if need be) to participate in the alcohol addiction program.
"After recent events, Chris was forced to take a clear look at a problem he has been trying to deal with himself for years," Jaime Primak, the actor's rep, told the magazine. "He understands now that he can not beat this disease alone. He thanks everyone for their support as he takes all the necessary steps to deal with his addiction and asks for privacy while doing so."
Klein, who was engaged to Katie Holmes before their five-year relationship ended in 2005, has been back in the spotlight as of late -- not only because of his arrest, but thanks to an embarrassing Mamma Mia! audition tape that went viral online (the actor had a good sense of humor about the whole thing and released a FunnyOrDie video in response.)
Here's hoping Klein can continue to keep his spirits high and get his life back on the right track.
