Yow! Check Out Chris Pratt's New Superhero Abs

The ordinarily schlubby Parks and Recreation star has gone through a serious body transformation for his latest role

When we think of Chris Pratt, we think of the adorable, schlubby Andy Dwyer from Parks and Recreation. So we did a double-take when Pratt posted this new picture of his totally ripped body. And then we did another double-take, because we wanted to look at it again.

Yes, the guy who looked like this last July is now rivaling Chris Hemsworth in the superhero-body category. That's because Pratt, 34, is also playing a superhero: Star Lord in the upcoming Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy. And obviously, he's taking his preparation for the role pretty seriously.

"Six months no beer. #GOTG," Pratt wrote on Instagram. "Kinda douchey to post this but my brother made me."

Note to Chris Pratt's brother: keep up the good work.

Pratt, who has an almost-1-year-old son with Anna Faris, seems to enjoy the challenge of transforming his body. In preparation for last year's Zero Dark Thirty, Pratt got himself into full Navy SEAL shape, developing a lean, muscular physique in a matter of months. (Here's a picture of Chris in his underwear during filming. You're welcome.)

After Zero Dark Thirty wrapped, Pratt immediately began piling on the pounds for the Vince Vaughn comedy Delivery Man. While shooting Season 5 of Parks and Recreation, he was still reaching his target goal of 300 -- which is why there was more of Andy to love this year! (Check out a clip of his pre-Guardians bod, below.)

Going back a little further, the actor dropped 30 pounds for 2011's Moneyball, after producers worried he was "too fat" for the part. (Here's a clip of his "athletic" look.)

"I just like to gain weight and lose weight," Pratt told Vulture last fall. "It’s a rollercoaster. I just want to do this. I want to touch God."

That's one way of having a religious experience! Since we love this guy at any weight, we get a kick out of seeing him morph from Navy Seal to civil servant to superhero. If he keeps doing this for every role, he should eventually get an Oscar out of the deal, right?
