One of the world’s most respected women journalists is getting their own talk show on CNN.
Christiane Amanpour will be the new host of Amanpour, a half-hour series that will debut on CNN International on Sept. 21 and in the U.S. on Sept. 27.
CNN’s Chief International Correspondent will interview global leaders and leaders from around the world and gives political junkies another option of what to watch on the weekends.
According to CNN, Amanpour will offer multiple perspectives and uncommon voices. It will set the news agenda, create media interest, social networking buzz and demonstrate Amanpour's unique ability to address the world's most compelling issues.
"I want this show to stir the global conscience. I have witnessed so much that it's time to start making real sense of it all," Amanpour said in a release about the show. "I learned to seek facts and to tell the truth no matter how difficult or unpopular, and to not accept a false moral equivalence when none exists. I want to provide a forum for others to do the same."
Amanpour has been a part of CNN for over 25 years now and is one of their most respected journalists. Her credentials include nine News and Documentary Emmys and four George Foster Peabody Awards.
Amanpour might be a good change of pace from the male-dominated talking heads that are currently on television Sunday morning.
