Christina Aguilera Wants to Play a "Crackhead" in Next Movie Role

The Voice coach says that she would like to do more acting and would prefer a more challenging role and "something where I can really sink my teeth into"

Attention casting directors: Christina Aguilera is in the market for an edgy film role. The "Your Body" singer, who made her big-screen acting debut in 2010's Burlesque, says she plans to appear in more movies -- but not as the wide-eyed ingenue.

"I do want to do more acting," Aguilera revealed at a press conference on Thursday. "I want to do something where I can really sink my teeth into something a little more challenging. Really outside of myself, outside of music... something really, really different."

So what does she have in mind? "A crackhead on the street or a drug addict," said the singer. "Or something crazy and meaty and juicy. Something that really took me out of myself."

Hey, it worked for Halle Berry!

Aguilera has already begun flaunting her dark side with the "Your Body" video, in which she plays a man-hunting serial killer. She's also become bolder than ever on her new press tour, trashing gossip blogs and calling Simon Cowell "a dick."

"I don't read blogs. It's just God-knows-who in buttf*** wherever writing hate s***. You can't take it seriously," Aguilera scoffed when the subject of online critics came up.

As for Cowell, she says his critical judging technique has discouraged her from ever becoming an Idol fan. "I saw the commercials early on of American Idol of Simon being a dick. I was like, 'Man, that's not what it's about!' I didn't want to treat people like that," she explained. "I wanted to do The Voice to show that we can be positive. We don't have to knock people down."

Though clearly, she doesn't mind throwing punches once in a while! But being tough, she says, is part of what her new album Lotus is about. "It's embracing the woman that I've grown to be and embracing myself, full circle, as a pop star...I chose Lotus because it represents the unbreakable flower that stands the test of time," Aguilera said. "S*** happens, man. This is the business. It's not going to be all cute and pretty and tied up in a little bow."
