Apparently Robert Pattinson has spent too much modulating his voice to play Edward Cullen because the English actor needed dialogue coaching -- to perfect a British accent!
Pattinson's Bel Ami costar Christina Ricci revealed Pattinson's secret on Monday night's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, where she explained that the Twilight hunk indeed needed help polishing up on his natural-born accent for the period drama.
"They hired a wonderful accent coach who coached me… and also coached him because he spent a lot of time in L.A." Ricci, 34, explained.
Ricci went on to say that she and Pattinson, 26, who play lovers in the film, poked fun at each other for slipping back into a California cadence during the shoot.
"I got to make fun of him because he's actually British and sometimes would sound like he was a Valley girl. And he made fun of me because I was trying to be British and would sometimes sound like a Valley girl."
Of course, Ricci did confess that she needed a lot more coaching than he did!
"But really I was the problem," Ricci admitted. "Sometimes we would do scenes and I'd turn to him and I would [ask], 'Did that sound okay?' And he'd [say], 'No.' "
