Great news, Law & Order: SVU fans -- Christopher Meloni is sticking around!
The actor says that an article published in Australia's Courier-Mail last February got it wrong when they printed a quote from Meloni in which he said he would be leaving the cop show after season 12.
"It's lies. All lies. No," Meloni told UsMagazine.com, of the talk that he's leaving his role as Detective Eliot Stabler behind.
"What I said was 'When your contract is done...that will be the end. Because when your contract is done, it's usually the end," he explained. "But when [producers] come back to me, you know, we can always talk. I couched it incorrectly. It wasn't [the reporter's] fault."
In an attempt to set the record straight about his future with the show, in which he stars opposite Mariska Hargitay, Meloni, 49, said, "I had one year [left] on my contract. Our show hasn't been picked up. Those are the facts of the matter."
When asked if he would return to the show if does continue, Meloni answered, "Yeah. Why not?"
