Closets -- Week 3
Okay. This assignment caught me totally off guard! I looked at the first part about setting aside a 5-hour chunk of uninterrupted time, and thought "what?!" I don't really have a babysitter and I'm not going to spend my evening time cleaning closets! I thought about it for a minute and realized my closets aren't that bad. Yes, they can use some work, but I don't think I need 5 hours to clean/organize one. So, my apologies to Regina, but I’m just going to have to do it my way! I have 4 very small closets. My goal: All 4 done by week end.
Actually doing this was interesting. It's amazing what you can do with your closets and what you can find even when they’re not "that bad"!
I *had* a hanger full of belts---all in great condition. Some were easy to part with, but others, well they just were too nice! I'm a size 12/14 right now. (haven't lost all of my "baby" fat yet!) My belts were all size 7, 9, 10. I *will* be able to wear a size 10 again. But, realistically, I doubt it on the 7's! LOL! I laid the belts on my bed. They stayed there for about a 1/2 hour. Just can't get rid of 'em. I'll box 'em up so I have 'em when I get back to that size. After that 1/2 hour, I finally said, "Oh come on!" Even when I *was* a size 10 I didn't wear them anymore. When I get back there, I'll buy new belts---if I'll even be wearing them! I have to admit that took a lot of energy---but it *did* feel good to finally put them in the donations box!
I’ve completed two of my four closets! Before the week is over, I *know* I will have the other two completed.
I love this slower method of organization! I feel the changes. I see the differences! Though still small, these changes are going to last. It’s not like my trials before when I just did a rush job, put junk in boxes and moved the boxes! Unfortunately, I still have those boxes to go through! :( I just hope this community is still available when I get to the really tough stuff!
Thanks to *everyone* for all the ideas, support, encouragement! I know this is part of why the changes are happening!!
