Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy Give Their Baby a Country-Crooner Name. We Like It!

Talk about an early Christmas present: On Monday, December 17th, Homeland actress Claire Danes and hubby Hugh Dancy welcomed their baby boy, Cyrus Michael Christopher Dancy!

Danes and Dancy kept their baby's gender a secret, so we couldn't speculate on names, but now that we know it, we think their choice is the perfect blend of cool and classic. We love the unique, hipster-ish Cyrus which we think is kind of the boy of version of a granny-chic name -- especially when paired with not one, but two classic middle names

Interestingly, all three names have religious connotations: Cyrus (which ranks number 514 on the Social Security Administration's list of popular baby names) comes from the Greek name "Kyrios," meaning "Lord" while Michael comes from the Hebrew expression meaning "who resembles God" and Christopher comes from Kristophoros, a Greek name meaning "Christ carrier."

Christopher, in fact, has a family connection for both mama and papa: Danes' dad is named Christopher, and it's also the middle name of Dancy's brother. As for Michael, well, we're not sure where the inpiration for that one came from, but you can't go wrong with a name that's consistently been near the top of the SSA's baby names list.

So congratulations -- and happy holidays -- to the bigger-by-one Danes-Dancy family!
