The first-time mother-to-be, 33, confessed during her first visit to Anderson Cooper's talk show on Thursday that she simply had to find out the baby's gender because she has "no patience."
Despite knowing whether the baby will be a boy or a girl, she and 37-year-old Dancy, who exchanged vows in 2009, will not be revealing the sex until after the baby is born. The Homeland star feels it's important that certain aspects of their private life remain just that.
"It's important to keep a little something to ourselves because we are so public," she explained to Cooper.
Now that they know what they're having, Danes can focus on the general excitement of becoming a mother -- even though she admits she's not completely sure what to expect from having a newborn in the family.
"We are very excited," Danes said, adding that she knows the new addition to her family will have a "profound change" on their lives. "We are going to love this person, I know that."
But before Danes journeys into motherhood, she just may become an Emmy winner again on Sunday night, as she's nominated for a lead actress award for her work on the first season of Showtime's political drama Homeland. Can't wait to see her rocking her baby bump on the red carpet!
