The '00s were the decade of the fantasy film -- so what better way to start off the new year than with a fantasy 2,000 years in the making? Clash of the Titans retells the ancient Greek myth of the warrior Perseus, who slaughtered the snake-haired demon Medusa with the help of the gods. Except Clash of the Titans ups the stakes even further: Perseus must battle Hades, Lord of the Underworld, in order to stop him from unleashing hell on Earth. Sounds epic, indeed.
While the original 1981 Clash of the Titans movie used stop-motion effects for its magic, the remake uses digital technology for a Lord of the Rings effect. Its stars include the two biggest fantasy actors of the moment -- Avatar's Sam Worthington and Prince of Persia's Gemma Arterton -- along with heavyweights Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes as Zeus and Hades. And if you're the kind of girl who's into fantasy creatures, this movie is a goldmine: the trailer has sea monsters, giant scorpions, winged griffins, even a pegasus. A pegasus! We haven't seen one of those since She-Ra.
Check out the new trailer below. The movie comes out on March 26th (along with the accompanying videogame, naturally).
