Three moms discuss life with children close in age.
- Michele, age 29, married for four years, mother of Courtney, 3, Tristan, 20 months, and Payton, 4 months.
- Terry, age 37, married for five years, mother of Jack, 3, and Danny, 20 months.
- Beth, age 27, married for six years, mother of William, 18 months, and Benjamin, 4 months.
What They Said:
Terry: I grew up as one of seven children -- a few of us only 17 months apart, so I thought it was fairly normal to have kids close in age. My husband is close in age to one of his brothers. So we wanted our kids close together.
Michele: We wanted that, too. I love it -- although I admit the third one's been a little tougher now that the older two are so active.
Beth: I'm kind of high-strung so truthfully I'm still finding it a bit of a struggle with two. I had to have a gall-bladder operation right after I had Ben, and I know that didn't help. I'm so thankful my husband is the opposite in temperament from me. He's very easygoing with our boys.
Michele: Sometimes I feel I can't give each child as much attention as I'd like. But I hug and kiss them all the time. And when I'm feeding the baby, the older two usually cuddle with us, which is so adorable to me.
Beth: William loves to put his face down next to Ben's and snuggle with him -- I just have to remind him to do it nicely, gently.
Terry: Jack just loves Danny to death sometimes. I do think they're going to be good friends. Danny has to do everything Jack does. If Jack's drawing, Danny has to draw, too.
