Costco Wholesale issued a recall of smoked salmon sold under the Foppen and Kirkland Signature brands on October 1. According to Food Safety News, the product had been purchased by nearly 250,000 U.S. consumers during the past month. Foppen, a Netherland-based company, processed its salmon at a plant in Greece and samples tested positive for Salmonella. The Kirkland Signature fish, which came from a plant in the Netherlands, has not yet been linked to the outbreak. Costco pulled the product from its shelves out of caution.
