"Couric-gate"

In 2006, when CBS announced the debut of its newly-acquired evening anchor, Katie Couric, it released an accompanying photo that showed the preternaturally perky newswoman looking about 20 pounds lighter than normal. When viewers cried foul, CBS admitted it had been overzealous with the airbrushing. Couric reportedly said of the picture, "I like the first (unairbrushed) picture better because there's more of me to love." In an effort to woo young viewers, CBS shot itself in the foot -- no one likes being misled, especially women already confronted with pictures of airbrushed models everywhere we look.
