Are Courteney Cox & David Arquette Turning Their Marriage into a TV Comedy?

The estranged couple, who are still on friendly terms, are reportedly looking to team for a new sitcom partly inspired by their relationship

Since Courteney Cox and David Arquette announced their separation almost one year ago, their relationship has been a mystery to everyone but them. Now the couple may be sharing their secrets with the world -- in the form of a sitcom!

According to TVLine, Cox and Arquette are pitching a network comedy that "explores the ups and downs of relationships across a group of friends" over the course of a decade. Tentatively titled 10 Years, the show would be produced through the still-married couple's Coquette Productions. In addition to his role as producer, Arquette might play one of the characters -- although Cox definitely will not, since she's all booked up with another of their productions, ABC's Cougar Town.

Will Arquette play a version of himself? TVLine's sources note the "buzz" that "two of the characters on the potential series" are inspired by Courteney and David. It may not be a coincidence that the show spans 10 years, as the Cox-Arquette marriage lasted 11 years before their separation. And there's been plenty of drama to mine, what with the rumors of various affairs (Arquette has most recently been linked to Christina McLarty), the awkward tell-all interviews, Arquette's struggle with sobriety, and the constant will-they-or-won't-they-get-back-together speculation fueled by their family vacations and still close relationship. Wait a minute: "Constant will-they-or-won't-they speculation" reminds us of another couple... Ross something and Rachel something? Weren't they characters on a pretty good sitcom once?

While this new project brews, Arquette is busy preparing for the Sept. 19 premiere of Dancing with the Stars. In interviews to promote the show, he's confirmed that he and Cox are still separated.

"I love her with all my heart, but we have compatibility issues," he told David Letterman earlier this month. " I'm like wild and crazy, she's really calm, and that really sort of started becoming apparent after 11 years."

A crazy person and a calm person trying to live and work together? Maybe they really are living in a sitcom!
