It seems as though David Arquette isn't the only one ready to finalize his divorce. On June 8, the same day he filed divorce paperwork in Los Angeles Superior Court, his estranged wife Courteney Cox did the same.
Even though they're seeking to end their marriage, Cox, 47, and Arquette, 40, seem to have nothing but the utmost respect for each another. Like Arquette, Cox also cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split, and is asking for join legal and physical custody of their 8-year-old daughter Coco, with no plea for child or spousal support. What's more, neither one of them is being represented by a lawyer. We guess they weren't kidding when they said they're still best buds!
One thing Courtney did in the papers that David did not is request to drop the "Arquette" from her last name. So it's a sad day for Friends fans who, like us, probably recall how the show's opening credits commemorated the actress' marriage and name change to "Courteney Cox-Arquette": by adding "Arquette" to the last name of all six main stars in the credits!
Cox and Arquette, who got married back in 1999, announced their separation in October 2010. At the time, there seemed to be hope that they would someday get back together, especially after Arquette went on The Oprah Winfrey Show and said he wanted to save their marriage. Cox, meanwhile told Harper's Bazaar that she'd feel like a failure if they got divorced. But while they decided not to salvage their marriage, the pair certainly remain close.
"[Courtney is] my best friend, and I love her with all my heart," Arquette told Ryan Seacrest in an April 2011 radio interview.
And Cox echoed that sentiment to People in January. "He's my favorite person in the world," she said. "He's my best friend. No matter what happens in our future, he's my very best friend."
