Can you believe it's been 10 years since the last Scream movie? Now that torture porn has hijacked the horror genre, we'd love a dose of Scream's tongue-in-cheek humor and kick-ass female characters. Lucky for us, Courteney Cox feels the same way.

Scream 4, directed by master of horror Wes Craven, is officially set to start shooting this spring. The film will reunite several original members of the Scream team, including Cox, her hubby David Arquette (they met on the set of the first film!) and heroine Neve Campbell. Producers will be casting a group of younger actors alongside the Scream veterans, in the hopes of re-launching the series for a new generation.

While Craven says he's super excited about the script, he has yet to reveal plot details. The first movie established the "rules of a horror movie," like never say "I'll be right back" if you want to live. The second movie was about the rules of a horror movie sequel (the body count is always bigger), and the third followed the rules of a horror movie trilogy (the killer turns out to be superhuman and can't die). So don't you think this one will be about the rules of a horror movie remake? Perhaps "cast teen idols" (a la Paris Hilton in House of Wax, 2005), "add CGI" ( like The Haunting, 1999), and "make the gory parts twice as gory" (Dawn of the Dead, 2004). We just hope they continue the tradition of killing off big-name actresses (Drew Barrymore, Halle Berry) in the first few minutes -- because even though we know it's coming, it never fails to shock us.
