Name of product: Nap Nanny and Chill Infant Recliners
The Hazard: The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) states that the products "pose a substantial risk of injury and death to infants." The CPSC is aware of four infants who died in Nap Nanny Generation Two recliners and a fifth death in the Chill model. The group has also received a total of over 70 additional incident reports of children nearly falling out of the product.
Description: While not yet a recall, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is suing Baby Matters, the manufacturer of Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill infant recliners. A statement from the CPSC says the government organization filed the complaint after they were unable to reach "an adequate voluntary recall plan that would address the hazard posed by consumer use of the product in a crib or without the harness straps being securely fastened." An older version the recliner was recalled in 2010.
