Make a classic game like pin the tail on the donkey more contemporary by substituting different animals for the donkey ("pin the wing on the penguin," "pin the tentacle on the mysterious giant squid"). Musical chairs never goes out of style either, and it's fun for both children and adults when you spin the right tunes (you'd be surprised at how many kids love bands like the Beatles and the B-52's). Pinatas have cross-cultural appeal and can be stuffed with candy, toys and other party favors.
Bring out your guests' creative sides with crafts. Either choose one craft for kids to make all together, or split kids into groups and have them take turns visiting different stations, where they can make origami, paper airplanes, necklaces or keychains. After a set amount of time, or when kids start getting restless, rotate each group so that everybody gets to try their hand at every craft. Food Ideas
Mini hands love mini food. Cut sandwiches into fun shapes using cookie cutters, and make mini burgers and bagel pizzas.
For dessert, dress up your cupcakes with food coloring. Sassy colors turn plain vanilla cupcakes into a fun treat. Serve mini ice cream sundaes in plastic cups to control portion size and keep spills to a minimum.
Remember, kids are not afraid to get a little gross, so dress up desserts with gummy worms and other yummy creepy crawlers.
