A Custom (and Incredible) Headboard

Grace Bonney, Design*Sponge

Design*Sponge is the quintessential blog for daily home decor inspiration, and the tutorials are unique as they are gorgeous and doable. Bold and playful yet polished, this headboard can make a huge impact on a room—without breaking the bank.

"This project was a true labor of love for me. I fell in love with otomi fabric years ago after seeing it in Cookie magazine and decided that one day I'd replicate the look in my own home. Determined to show people that staple-gun upholstery isn't so scary, I took on the process entirely by myself (after having a carpenter cut the headboard shape—I'm not so good with saws) and filmed the upholstery over four hours in my bedroom. The result is a truly custom headboard that adds so much detail to the room, I don't have to do much to make it look great." —Grace Bonney, Design*Sponge
