Summer and I have a love-hate relationship. I love the warm weather, but I hate the bathing suits that come along with it.
It's not that I don't like the swimsuit styles or patterns out there. I'm just intimidated by being half-naked in public. In fact, I once cried to my boyfriend before a Fourth of July trip because people would seem me in a bathing suit. It was a touch over-dramatic, I know. This year something magical happened -- I actually controlled my pizza binges in preparation for bikini season.
I'm still not the slimmest of the slim but I'm feeling more confident without all the pizza-weight. Even better, there's a bunch of really cute bikinis at American Eagle that I'm actually tempted to show off. Even more tempting -- each piece is under $20! I'm a sucker for anything with polka dots, so I'll probably be buying their Polka Dot Twist Bandeau Bikini ($19.95 for the top and $19.95 for the bottom at AE.com). I could also see myself in their adorable Plaid Halter Bandeau Bikini (pictured, $19.95 for the top and $19.95 for the bottom at AE.com). (Let's not kid ourselves here -- all the others on sale are just as adorable.) When I slip into mine, I'll likely be tear-proof. Yay!
