Let's be honest. As much as we love Dancing with the Stars, it could easily be named Dancing with the B-List Stars. But on Friday morning, when ABC announces the lineup for DWTS: All-Stars, the names called will include only the very best of the B-Listers. Yes, folks, this season's dancers are practically A-Listers!
According to Entertainment Weekly, some real fan favorites are going to be invited back. That includes Melissa Rycroft (season 8), Joey Fatone (season 4) and Pamela Anderson (season 10). Remember how surprisingly good Pam turned out to be?
Sadly, the magazine's sources don't offer much hope for a return of wrestling diva Stacy Kiebler (Season 2). Perhaps she's off gallivanting with her boyfriend George Clooney? For a moment, let's just think about how great pitting the leggy blonde against Clooney's ex Elisabetta Canalis (season 13) would be...sigh.
Other former contestants have already drawn a line in the sand: Melissa Joan Hart, who is expecting baby no. 3, told Access Hollywood that she won't be back on the dance floor, and Ralph Macchio told USA Today that he doubted he'd be asked to return. But if you believe Ted Casablanca's recent tweet, then Bristol Palin is already putting her dance shoes back on. You may remember Palin's controversial rise to third place during season 11, despite the fact that several other dancers appeared to be eating her lunch with their Cha-Cha-Cha's.
Of course, it's all just speculation at this point. As Entertainment Weekly pointed out, "the industry whisperers have been quieter than usual this cycle." But we do know that producers will allow viewers to pick one out of three possible returning stars, one of whom is Carson Kressley. And in this Entertainment Tonight segment, we did get to hear what people on the show are hoping. Watch their segment here:
So, judge Carrie Ann Inaba would like to see Gilles Marini (season 8) on the all-stars roster; dance pro Mark Ballas wants Sabrina Bryan back; and his fellow dancer Petra Murgatroyd's choice would be Evan Lysacek (season 10). Cohost and season 7 winner Brooke Burke has said that "she would love to get back out there with Derek [Hough]."
Frankly, our dream all-star cast would also have to include the quip-spewing Kirstie Alley, who really gave the show her all in season 12. Naturally, we'd like some comic relief from watching Kate Gosselin (season 10) try to tackle the tango again. It would be interesting to see Rob Kardashian (season 13) get another shot at the trophy. (Who knew he'd be so good?) And, for good measure, why not bring back both Osmond sibs, Donny and Marie? A little sibling rivalry couldn't hurt!
