How they did: As Len Goodman put it, Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough's final freestyle was "a medley of Derek and Shawn's greatest hits." The high-energy dance was full of risks and surprises, starting with an appearance by the U.S. women's gymnastics team's Fierce Five (Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman, Kyla Ross and Jordyn Wieber), who served as their cart-wheeling backup dancers. It was a redemptive moment for Johnson, who was earlier scolded by the judges when she willfully broke some elementary rules of the quickstep (don't break hold, no lifts) during her first performance. But this perfect-scoring freestyle allowed the couple to show off some cool acrobatic tricks. At one point, Johnson keened forward from atop Hough's shoulders and fell into a flip, with Hough flipping right behind her. "The crowning glory of a fantastic night!" cried Bruno Tonioli.
