Recap: Dancing with the Stars - Men!

It's the sixth season of Dancing with the Stars featuring a new batch of celebrities with time on their hands to put on their dancing shoes and strut their stuff on the dance floor. Will this be the season for a female winner (the last time the title went to the female side was way back in Season 1)? I guess we'll just have to wait and see, because tonight it's all about the men.

First to hit the dance floor was magician Penn Jillette and partner Kym Johnson doing the cha-cha-cha. Penn described himself as "Big Foot" pre-performance, so it's no surprise that his footwork looked heavy and his movements quite awkward. Judge Bruno later called the dance "Shrek doing the cha-cha-cha." Ouch. But at least he looked like he was having lots of fun.

NFL star Jason Taylor and partner Edyta Sliminska were up next with the foxtrot and they fared a little better with the judges. Jason displayed great posture and a surprising elegance. Judge Carrie Ann praised him for his "fluidity." He was still a bit awkward, but I could see Jason as one of the male frontrunners.

Time for Latin heartthrob Cristian de la Fuente and partner Cheryl Burke to show off their cha-cha-cha skills. Steamy performance? Not so much. The judges felt Cristian was hunched over all throughout the dance, not-so-attractive in their opinion. I guess people will be expecting him to bust out the sexy Latin moves, but as Cristian says, he's Chilean not Brazilian, people. But I have to say, Cheryl worked. it. out.

Adam Carolla was being his funny, self-deprecating self in his rehearsal footage, but his and current champion Julianne Hough's foxtrot didn't get a lot of props from the judge. Too stiff, the judges say. But the footwork was good so... yay? I don't know, things are not looking as bright as Julianne's yellow dress for this couple.

Who's the guy to beat this season? My pick is R&B star (and youngest DWTS contestant) Mario, who's dancing with Karina Smirnoff. All that hip-hop-style choreography must've paid off because he was doing some serious hip action. And I have to give kudos to any guy who can look so comfortable dancing in shoes with heels. He received the highest scores of the night and got Bruno "excited." Then again, isn't Bruno the excitable kind anyway? Anyhoo...

The last of the six male contestants is none other than Steve Guttenberg (dancing with partner Anna Trebunskaya). People remember him from the movie Three Men and a Baby, but his role as perv Woody Goodman in "Veronica Mars" is fresher in my mind. Their foxtrot was okay, if a bit boring. In fact, if this was judged by AI's Randy Jackson, he'd say something like: "It's 'aight dawg, you know, it's just 'aight for me..." But Carrie Ann called him "charming", his footwork is pretty good, and he does seem really happy to be there. So keep an eye on him.

If the men's scores (lots of five's and six's) are any indication, we might just have a female winner this season. Who is your male pick this season? Who will you be rooting for? And if you can't get enough DWTS, take our quiz and test your knowledge of all things DWTS.
