Monday's night's "instant dance" show was nerve-wracking for all of Dancing with the Stars' remaining contestants. But it was Ralph Macchio who suffered the most, as the Karate Kid performed two numbers while in excruciating pain due to a bad knee.
Macchio and his partner Karina Smirnoff ended the night with the lowest score -- likely due to his missed practices as result of a ruptured cyst behind his knee -- and the couple received only 46 points from the judges.
Coming in second-to-last was Romeo and partner Chelsie Hightower, who scored a 52 after showing off their skills in an energetic tango that was followed by an instant salsa.
But, as always, it was America's votes that made the difference. Macchio and Smirnoff were given another chance, while Romeo and Hightower were sent packing.
"I'm surprised because I did my best dances, but at the same time I'm not surprised," the rapper-actor said of his elimination. "This show has changed my life forever. I didn't dance at my own prom. I've turned down a lot of movies because I was afraid to dance."
And Romeo had nothing but love for Hightower. "I wanted to do this for you," he told his partner. "We can dance after this."
"I'm super happy and so proud of you," she responded.
Now, it's down to the final four, as Macchio joins Kirstie Alley, Hines Ward and Chelsea Kane on the dance floor again next week to battle it out for the mirror ball trophy. Will Macchio's injury hurt his chances of becoming the champ? Stay tuned...
