Daniel Craig is known for being an intensely private man -- and his new wife Rachel Weisz is careful not to say anything about their marriage after a comment she made about children was construed as a big revelation. In a new interview with British GQ the James Bond star explains that the Kardashians are an example of why he's so tight-lipped about his personal life.
"I think there's a lot to be said for keeping your own counsel," Craig says. "You can't buy it back. You can't buy your privacy back. Ooh, I want to be alone. 'F*ck you. We've been in your living room. We were at your birth. You filmed it for us and showed us the placenta, and now you want some privacy?'"
In case the target of his comparison isn't obvious enough, the 43-year-old star of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and The Adventures of Tin Tin, makes it perfectly clear.
"It is a career; I'm not being cynical. And why wouldn't you? Look at the Kardashians, they're worth millions. Millions! I don't think they were that badly off to begin with, but now look at them," he adds. "You see that and you think, 'What, you mean all I have to do is behave like a f*cking idiot on television and then you'll pay me millions?' I'm not judging it."
He pauses. "Well I am obviously. I'm probably going to get visited by people from New Jersey."
So, Craig (who presumably confused the Los Angeles-based Kardashians with either the Jersey Shore crew or the Real Housewives) isn't exactly hiding his feelings about the media-loving family -- who garnered even more attention today with Kourtney Kardashian's big first-trimester revelation that she's pregnant.
But fans should not expect Craig (who even managed to keep his engagement a secret) to ever share anything so personal -- no matter how much money is at stake.
"I mean, since I've just become James Bond. And I think, you know, that means being something that people feel they own. And all of the sudden I'm getting magazine covers, when I got nothing for ten years before that," he explains. "I say it's just pure luck. And doing covers, people interviewing me, and they want to know everything and I'm going, I'm not gonna f*cking tell you!"
