1. What is one thing you wish you had known before going on The Biggest Loser?
I wish I new how physically demanding the show was. You think you know from watching, but you don't at all ! I wish I could have mentally prepared myself for what was coming and what it would take to brake all the walls I had built to keep myself fat.
2. If you could have done one thing differently during the show, what would it be?
If I could have done one thing differently on the show it would have been to search for that next level of effort that we all have inside and pull it. There is an intensity that is above what we do when we think we are being intense and I wish I had found that before being eliminated.
3. What was the hardest thing to adapt to while being on the ranch?
The hardest thing to adapt to on the ranch was being without friends or family. My family and friends are my support group and they keep me going while I'm at home. Not having them there helped in the beginning to keep out distractions but I certainly wasn't used to it!
4. What's the most helpful thing your partner did or said to motivate you?
The best thing David said to me on the ranch was the pride he felt when he saw me not quit during our first workout. Knowing that I proved I was going to stay and not give up meant the world to me. We all have committed to diet after diet and quit diet after diet. After awhile you assume that you'll never stick with anything and it creates an often deadly cycle. Breaking this cycle and proving that I care enough about my God given life to stick to a healthy change has made the world of difference to me!
5. What is your favorite workout?
My favorite workout is hiking!!!! I have discovered that I love to walk and hike and since being home I have hit the trails at several local parks and state parks. They are free and provide a great workout if you push yourself. You also get to be outside and enjoy life!
6.What's your favorite healthy meal or snack?
My favorite healthy snack is baby carrots and hummus. It's balanced and low calorie and gives me good energy while being full!! My favorite meal is grilled boneless skinless chicken breast with half a sweet potato and brussel sprouts.
7. What do you think your weight-loss obstacles will be now that you're off the ranch and how do you plan to overcome them?
My biggest obstacles while being home are going to be distracted. Like Vicky from season 6 my reason for losing weight sometimes gets in the way of actually losing the weight. I wanted to lose weight so I could do my ministries effectively and live my life. But now that I'm home when I'm doing those things I feel guilty for not being in the gym, and when I'm in the gym I feel guilty about not doing those things. They way I'm getting around them is by putting them off until May and knowing that I AM living my life by being able to exercise every day!!!
8. What's the best advice Bob or Jillian has given you?
The best advice Jillian ever gave me was to not dance around my fears. We all have hard and difficult situations in life and it does us not good to hide or run from them. Fear is OK, it's what you do with that fear that counts. You have to recognize that you're afraid and what you are afraid of, focus on the fact that you are still in control, and then run right through it!
9. What happens behind the scenes of the show that no one would know from watching it?
What you don't see behind the scenes of the show is the camaraderie and new self respect of the cast. For the first time in most of our lives we were surrounded by people who shared our fears and persecutions. Being able to feel no judgment for your body and be comfortable in your own skin was priceless and it really was shared between the cast behind the scenes.
10. What did you do for fun while you were on the ranch?
Oh My Gosh!!! We had so much fun off camera!!! On late nights we would turn the gym into one sweaty dance club!! We had a little mp3 player boombox and different people would share their music while we took a break from the machines and just danced and goofed off together!!! It was so much fun!!!
