Although Amy grew up in Charleston, she'd lived in New York for some time before she met Andrew, a native of the Big Apple. He was finishing up his first year of law school in Boston when Amy happened to come up from Manhattan for a conference. A mutual friend suggested they all meet for drinks, though, says Andrew, "He kept stressing that it wasn't a set-up!"Something must have clicked, as a month later, when Andrew was in Manhattan, he got in touch with Amy and suggested they meet again. After a year and a half of dating--during which Andrew made frequent trips back and forth from Boston, eventually moving to New York for good--the couple got engaged that December.
