For a couple who's been separated for more than a year, David Arquette and Courteney Cox are on excellent terms: They've vacationed together, Cox cheered for Arquette when he was on Dancing with the Stars, and they're even developing a TV show together! But that doesn't mean they'll be reconciling anytime soon -- or ever.
Arquette, 40, revealed as much during a Tuesday appearance on Howard Stern's radio show, when the shock jock asked what it would take for David and Courteney, 47, to get back together.
"If Courteney said to you, 'David, I made a mistake I want to work on our marriage. I want you moving back into the house, I want you to break up with that girl (girlfriend Christina McLarty). I know we have to do this for our daughter.' Would you consider it?" Stern asked.
"Uh, I mean, no," Arquette replied simply.
But that doesn't mean it was an easy thing for Arquette and Cox to come to grips with. In fact, Arquette said that both he and Cox got very emotional when he told Courtney that he's in love with McLarty.
"She was sad, we were both sad," he said. "We both cried."
In a recent interview, Cox admitted there is still a lot of love between her and her estranged husband, who have 7-year-old daughter Coco together. The problem is they're just not compatible.
"The truth of the matter is that we love each other so much. We have such affection for each other, but we are very different," she said. "I'm a homebody. I like to have people over, but I'm a little socially not... I don't love it. David -- he doesn't drink anymore, he's completely sober -- but he likes to go out and dance. He really is a very gregarious guy. He's very outgoing. I'm much more of an introvert."
