Sad news for all those hopeless romantics out there still clinging to the notion that most-amicable-separated-couple-ever Courteney Cox and David Arquette might get back together: Eighteen months after the Scream costars announced their separation, Arquette, 40, has finally pulled the trigger and filed for divorce from Cox, 47.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the Dancing with the Stars alum cited the usual "irreconcilable differences" in his June 8 filing in Los Angeles Superior Court. Arquette is asking for joint physical and legal custody of the couple's daughter Coco, who turns 8 on June 13, and did not request spousal or child support.
Cox supported Arquette during and after his stint in rehab for alcohol addiction. She and Coco were enthusiastic fixtures in the audience during David's run on season 13 of Dancing with the Stars. The couple are collaborating as producers on an upcoming NBC sitcom. Arquette just put in a cameo appearance on the season finale of Cox's Cougar Town. And, of course, they always have the absolute nicest things to say about each other.
"[Courtney is] my best friend, and I love her with all my heart," Arquette told Ryan Seacrest during an April 2011 radio interview. Not surprisingly, Cox feels the same way.
"[David is] my favorite person in the world," Cox gushed to People in January. "He's my best friend. No matter what happens in our future, he's my very best friend."
