Debra Messing has confirmed that she will remain living under the same roof as estranged husband Daniel Zelman, despite announcing that they are indeed separated.
"The separation was entirely mutual," a rep for the former couple tells Us Weekly. The Smash actress, 43, and the TV producer, 44, had recently relocated together from Los Angeles to New York City, but their rep confirmed on Tuesday that they had split after 10 years of marriage. "They have been couple for twenty years, and the nature of their relationship simply changed over time."
Messing and Zelman are living together in New York for the sake of their 7-year-old son Roman. They are so committed to raising him together that they've decided to join the growing segment of American couples who are "un-divorced" and cohabiting.
A representative for Messing and Zelman tells Us: "In the short term they plan on continuing to live together with their son, then gradually transition into a new living situation. They have no immediate plans for divorce."
In the meantime, Messing and Zelman are apparently at peace with their new family situation.
"We love to go skating at Wolman rink, and go see plays," she told LilSugar in November. "Looking forward to putting on the snowsuit and stomping through Central Park."
