Hear what women have to say about this board:

One day during my umpteenth Google search for articles about debt reduction, I found the money section of iVillage. I quickly read most of the money articles and found my way to the message boards. I've been coming back almost every day since then.

I love the sense of community that we all share here. It's so easy to come here and vent/confess/explain my latest dilemma, and know that when I come back later, there will be suggestions and advice, sympathy and "I've been there too" posts. I was particularly drawn to the non-judgmental aspect of the Debt Support Group. It is a crucial element of the board. No matter what I say here, people here will be supportive and offer constructive advice to help me deal with my debt situation.

This board really helped me pull myself together, develop a plan of attack for my debts, and remain accountable to myself and to others who post here via weekly check-ins. We really do learn something from each other each time we interact here.

This board has taken a tremendous weight off my shoulders. Money is not something that I felt comfortable discussing with anyone, and I ended up feeling incredibly stressed all the time about our debt. I thought that there was something wrong with us, or maybe we were just stupid to be struggling with managing debt.

When the bottom fell out of the local construction industry after 9/11, my husband's income was a quarter of what it was the year prior and we accumulated a lot of debt. I have learned so much, and now I have a plan to manage our money. The greatest thing about this board is how open the participants are about sharing their struggles. This has given me courage to tackle our problems instead of pretending that all is well.

You've all made me feel normal again, and given me numerous invaluable strategies to help cope, manage, and move forward. I am glad I found Debt Support Group!!

When I timidly first started coming to this site, we owed the IRS thousands in taxes. No savings. No 401K. Medical bills, too. Now, I have about 95K in my 401B. Taxes are paid off. Opened credit union account and IRA.

Some websites are come-ons for speculative consolidations, interest-only mortgage payments, etc. Or, tons of spam and advertisements. This is the real deal, with people who have gone before us, and have learned the freedom of having no debt.

The Debt Support Group has been a lifesaver for me! I was close to $30,000 in debt, and now I am almost two-thirds of the way to paying it all off. I love this board and log on everyday during the week at work to see what is going on, to read others' successes (that is really encouraging), and sometimes to read about people having a really hard time. It all helps motivate me. Thanks to everyone at Debt Support Group for all your support and willingness to share your stories too, it helps more than you will ever know.

I started posting/reading on the Debt Support Group board in 1999. This board has gone through many changes but I must say it is at its BEST right now thanks to the wonderful leaders here. That is what keeps me coming back! I no longer have credit card debt and am now working towards being completely debt free. This board is a great place to come to for support, encouragement & it keeps me accountable. I am 34 months to being debt free.
