According to a new Purdue University study, rats who were fed chips that contained the ‘fake fat’ Olestra consumed more and gained more weight than those that ate regular chips. Scientists believe that real fat helps send our body signals to stop eating, but fake fat can lead to overeating because it confuses our normal appetite signals. So if you have a craving for chips, indulge it, but stick to a single serving of a full-fat version in order to stay on track for weight loss.
