Demi Moore gave herself the perfect birthday present: a chance to get away from it all. The actress, who turned 50 on Sunday, spent the past week jetsetting to India and Abu Dhabi, where she partied with friends and relaxed by the ocean.
Demi's global getaway began in Abu Dhabi, where she was reportedly staying with a group of friends at a luxury beachside resort. "Demi seemed to be enjoying herself -- they all did," a witness told Us Weekly. The actress was also spotted dancing in a red dress at a local nightclub, having a great time -- but declining to take photos with fans.
The festivities continued in Jodhpur, India, where Demi and several friends (including her frequent travel companion, florist Eric Buterbaugh) attended an extravagant birthday party thrown by supermodel Naomi Campbell for her boyfriend, Russian billionaire Vladimir Doronin. The bash, which was also attended by fashion-world icons like Kate Moss, Karolina Kurkova, Zac Posen and Eva Herzigova, featured fireworks, an enormous buffet, and a private performance by Diana Ross. Campbell reportedly flew all 200 party guests to India via 13 private chartered planes, put them up at an $800-a-night hotel, and hired Rolls Royces to chauffeur them during their stay. Happy birthday, indeed! Demi got into the action by wearing a traditional Indian costume (as posted on Twitter by a local journalist).
It's no secret that this has been a tough year for Moore, whose marriage to Ashton Kutcher ended amid a cheating scandal last fall. (The divorce is still being settled.) Kutcher's recent relationship with longtime friend Mila Kunis has reportedly been especially hard on Demi. But friends say that Moore sees her 50th birthday as a good opportunity to make a new start. "She's not unhappy about turning 50," a source tells People. "She looks beautiful and is feeling good after a really, really tough year." A source for Us Weekly concurs, saying that Moore is "in a good place" and "open to experiencing new things this year." An international birthday celebration sounds like a great way to kick things off!
