After Demi Moore was rushed to the hospital following a 911 call Monday night, the 49-year-old actress' rep released a statement blaming "stress" and "exhaustion" for her health scare. But now sources tell People that Demi "was having what seemed like seizures" at her Los Angeles home, prompting "concerned friends" to dial 911.
While the cause of the reported seizure is still unknown, TMZ is reporting that the catalyst may have been that Demi inhaled a dangerous amount of the gas nitrous oxide. According to the site, pne of Moore's friends who was at her home that night told emergency workers that Demi was doing "whip-its," had a bad reaction and lapsed into semi-consciousness."
A "whip-it" is the street name for a type of nitrous oxide inhalant that is usually popular with teenagers because it's easy -- and cheap -- to procure.
According to People, Moore's friends emphasize that she "did not attempt suicide." Still, the actress' declining health and mounting stress in the wake of her split from husband Ashton Kutcher have been a source of anxiety for those close to the star.
While Moore's camp has yet to officially confirm or deny these reports, it seems clear that Demi was smart to drop out of the upcoming film Lovelace to seek treatment and focus on her health.
