After the news that Charlie Sheen's ex Brooke Mueller had returned to rehab after refusing to take a drug test following an alleged cocaine bender, the question on everyone's mind was: Does this mean Sheen will get custody of the couple's 22-month-old twins, Bob and Max?
According to TMZ, one other option was on the table: Sheen's other ex-wife, Denise Richards, called the actor last Thursday and offered to take informal custody of the kids until his situation "stabilized." Richards and Sheen had a famously stormy relationship, and she has made comments in the past about how she worries how Sheen's behavior will affect their kids, Sam and Lola. Richards has been honest with their children about Sheen's problems with addiction, but there is only so much she can do to shield them. What with Sheen's stints in rehab and the "goddesses," Richards obviously has reason to fear leaving her children in his care. But now she is reaching out a helping hand to Sheen in his time of need.
Though Sheen didn't shoot down the idea immediately, he's since made it clear he wants custody of the kids for himself. On Sunday, during the Connecticut stop on his Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat Is Not an Option tour, Sheen told the audience, "I'm going to L.A. to get my f***ing kids back." (According to TMZ, the actor would like the twins to accompany him on the final two-week leg of the tour!)
And it looks like Sheen may do just that. The actor is back in Los Angeles, where he and Mueller will face off at a hearing Tuesday morning, where Sheen will seek full custody of the children. Whatever happens, we hope it's in the best interest of Bob and Max.
