Sum 41 singer -- and ex-husband of Avril Lavigne -- Deryck Whibley was viciously attacked by three people in Japan last week. But he didn't let his hospital visit stop him from rocking out for his fans.
According to the lead singer's bandmates, Whibley, 30, was jumped in a bar brawl and was hospitalized for two days.
"It is unfortunate to say, but Deryck Whibley is still in the hospital," the band's Facebook page read on Friday. "He was attacked late last night in Japan. We are waiting for results and we are hoping for the best. Thanks for your support.
After undergoing a battery of tests, doctors found that the rocker had suffered a slipped disc in his back and advised him to rest. But Whibley refused to let the injury stop him from playing, and the band made their scheduled appearances at the Summersonic Music Festival in Osaka on Saturday and in Tokyo on Sunday.
Earlier in the week, Sum 41 was forced to cancel three Warped Tour appearances after Whibley came down with a severe case of bronchitis that threatened to damage his voice "permanently," according to the band.
Japanese authorities are said to be investigating the attack on Whibley.
