'Desperate Housewives' Star Ricardo Chavira Arrested for DUI

Desperate Housewives star Ricardo Chavira got into some real-life trouble Tuesday morning, when he was arrested for suspicion of DUI in Los Angeles.

The 39-year-old actor (who plays Eva Longoria's character's husband Carlos on the ABC show) was pulled over by police for an unrelated reason, and authorities smelled alcohol on Chavira's breath. He was given a roadside sobriety test, which he failed.

"He was cooperative, he just refused to do further testing," an LAPD police source told the New York Daily News. "There's no way to say for sure how badly intoxicated he was."

According to cops, Chavira made a dangerous left turn in front of an oncoming police vehicle, which led to the traffic stop.

"He failed to yield the right of way, then accelerated to 60 mph in a 35 mph zone and threw a McDonald's wrapper out of his window," the source said. "He probably didn't even see the cop car."

After refusing to take the breathalyzer and blood tests, the actor was detained. He is being held on $25,000 bond.
