Your 11th-grader is in a prime position in high school: She's found her sense of direction, and her case of "senioritis" (see 12th Grade) hasn't hit yet. Socially, she may feel her most liberated and may hang out with new groups of friends, including mixed-sex groups. It's also a big academic year for her: Colleges tend to look closely at junior-year grades and extracurricular activities; many students take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and other college-readiness exams this year. All of this activity may result in you not seeing as much of your child, but, believe it or not, this is a good thing: She's growing up.
