Development Tracker -- Seventh Grade

Seventh Grade When your child begins the seventh grade, he is either entering a new school - junior high - or is in the second year of his middle-school experience. Regardless, this grade, when most kids are 12 or 13, is crucial in the transition to puberty and adolescence. Experts say that your child's increasingly rocky behavior is caused by his correspondingly rocky self-esteem, which can take a major hit with the onset of puberty. It can be a tough year, but it's worth it: You're witnessing the hatching stage of your child's emergence into adulthood.
