The so-called "diaper-free" movement, which is based on the belief that babies are born with the ability to communicate when they need to go to the bathroom, is gaining popularity. Parents who favor the trend learn to read their babies' body language and then mimic the sounds the infants associate with relieving themselves. The chance to ditch diapers and the hefty diaper bag sounds pretty great, but is this trend really a good idea? Some experts say that babies under 12 months have no control over bladder or bowel movements, and most continue to have very little control until they reach at least 18 months. iVillage parents were eager to share their views.
