Dina Lohan stopped by the Today show on Monday once again to talk about her daughter Lindsay Lohan and her substance abuse problems to Matt Lauer. Only this time, Mama Lohan actually acknowledged that her daughter needed help.
Dina, 48, told Lauer that the Betty Ford Center, where 24-year-old Lindsay is currently seeking treatment has been "life-changing" for her and her family.
There was tension during their August interview -- but during this visit, Lohan got real with Lauer and admitted that not only does she realize now that her daughter was an addict, but Lindsay herself does, too.
Dina even spent two weeks at the center getting help for herself and attended "family sessions" to learn all of the aspects of having a loved one with an addiction.
Lindsay's mom also reported that the star is "happy" and "relaxed" and all around a "different person." Though Lindsay's previous four stints in rehab failed, Dina says the Betty Ford Center finally changed her. "They get into your psyche," she explained.
Dina shared the encouraging news that Lindsay "wants to stay" at Betty Ford and is realizing her trigger points which have caused her to relapse in the past.
Lauer then went on to ask Dina about the RadarOnline.com report that her equally press-happy ex-husband, Michael Lohan, had a tearful, joyous reunion with their daughter. Turns out, Dina is willing to put their differences aside for Lindsay's sake.
"It's all about Lindsay and her healing," she told Lauer. She added that, despite Michael's past and the fact that she has sole custody of their three children, if they reconnect and have a healthier relationship, "it only can help."
