If you're the type of woman who likes to plan ahead, you might have already created a birth plan outling the birth experience you'd like to have. But the birth plan pretty much goes out the window when you're having a c-section. "Ultimately we don’t have as much control over childbirth as we might want," says Poulin. She encourages moms to focus on aspects of birth that are in your control: You might request that your partner get to hold the baby immediately after delivery, that that you’d like to breastfeed the baby as soon as possible after delivery and that you'd like the baby to sleep in your room rather than in the nursery.
