Add a personalized, celebratory sparkle to your next party with our DIY glitter party banner craft project. It's perfect for New Year's Eve parties, but you can easily change the message for whatever the occasion may be!
What You'll Need:
- Cleaning sponges
- Large craft needle
- Elastic thread or clear nylon thread
- Sequins or beads (optional)
STEP 1. Decide on your banner message. Cut each sponge in half and then draw block-style letters on each sponge to spell out your message.
STEP 2. Cut out each sponge letter.
STEP 3. Coat the letter thoroughly with glue. Be sure that the glue covers all the small holes in the sponge.
STEP 4. Cover the glue with a generous sprinkling of glitter. Repeat glue and glitter process on all sides and allow letters to dry completely.
STEP 5. Measure and cut your thread so it is long enough to go through all the letters and have 8-10" extra on each end to hang. Tie a thick knot about 8" from one end and then push the needle and thread through the center of each letter.
STEP 6. Tie a thick, knot at the other end once you have spelled out your party message. Add sequins or beads between letters or words for more flare.
STEP 7. Hang and get ready to party!
