DIY: The Party Bun

Created by Manhattan stylist and blogger Reagan Breinholt for latest-hairstyles.com, this of-the-moment updo simply screams "fun"! And it's so simple, you don't have to wait 'til the weekend to try it.

DO IT YOURSELF!

Prep: Since you’ll be teasing your hair to create texture, you want it clean—or de-greased with dry shampoo.

Style:

Step 1: Pull your hair up above your head as if you’re making a high ponytail.

Step 2: Smooth the front of your hair with a hairbrush, secure ponytail with elastic, then use your fingers to gently rumple hair at the hairline.

Step 3: Use a comb to tease your ponytail until it’s dramatically bigger—you’re trying to create a bird’s nest effect.

Step 4: Loosely wrap your teased ponytail into a coil to create a large bun.

Step 5: Secure with bobby pins

Set: Gently mist with hairspray.

Tip! “This bun also looks beautiful low at the nape of your neck—sort of ballerina-meets-party girl!” says Reagan.
