30 Days of HoliDIY: Gorgeous Velvet Statement Necklace

Add some holiday sparkle with this gorgeous DIY necklace from Stripes & Sequins.

 Velvet Necklace

Stripes and Sequins

I love this project because it is incredibly fun to make. Something about weaving the ribbon through the rings is really satisfying and cathartic. And velvet makes this project perfect for the holidays. I'd wear this over a navy dress to a holiday party. I also love that it ties at the neck, making it adjustable. Be sure to pull your hair back when you wear it -- you'll want to show off that bow!

Weave your ribbon over and under the rings, forming a pattern like above.

Continue adding rings and working the ribbon through. It’s a little bit like stacking the rings and then just bringing the ribbon through the empty spaces between the stacks.

Step 5:

When you get to the last ring (it should be wooden) pull the ribbon all the way through.

Make a loop with the ribbon, as shown above, and pull the end of the ribbon through again. Pull tightly.
