Do-It-Yourself Duvet Cover

On the hunt for fabric to create my duvet cover, dust ruffle and window treatments, I stumbled upon yellow, flowered king-sized flat sheets for $9.99 each. Over the years, I have found that using sheets is an economical way to decorate with fabric because they are typically less expensive than purchasing fabric by the yard.

I decided that the base color of my bedroom should be a yellow and blue palette to match with the sheets. I then looked for coordinating bedding in a different design that would also complement my base color. Luckily, I found the perfect accents. I used striped sheets and floral sheets to make a reversible duvet cover and the bed skirt. With the leftover fabric and pillowcases, I made the pillow shams and accent pillows.
