You don’t need special sprays or solutions for cleaning a wound at home. “A steady stream of plain tap water is fine,” says Williams. You should, however, include a package of antiseptic wipes in your car’s first aid kit to clean your hands before attending to cuts and scrapes when you don’t have access to running water.
