And here we thought marrying a yoga instructor had made Alec Baldwin more peaceful! The former 30 Rock star is accused of getting hostile with a New York Post reporter and photographer on Sunday, allegedly using racial slurs and violent threats against them.
According to the reporter in question, who approached Baldwin outside his home, the actor grabbed her by the arm and told her, "I want to choke you to death." (She had asked him about the strange lawsuit pending against his wife Hilaria.) He then got into a scuffle with the Post's staff photographer, calling him a racial slur, and accusing him of being a "crackhead" who "just got out of jail." (The photographer is, in fact, a former police detective, so he didn't take that too well.)
Both the reporter and Baldwin have filed harassment claims in connection with the incident.
“Thank u 2 NYPD officers who came to my home 2day so that I could file a formal complaint against NY Post 'photographer' who assaulted me," Baldwin wrote in a tweet that was later deleted. He also used Twitter to rail against the photographer, saying that ex-cops "don't become crack head, ex jailhouse paparazzi!"
So yeah, we're having some trouble believing that Baldwin is entirely innocent here (though that's what he claims). Maybe he's just feeling especially on edge now that Hilaria is pregnant with their first child, and was trying to be protective. The reporter allegedly has the whole thing on audiotape, and there were lots of eye witnesses, so we should find out the real story soon enough.
In the meantime, the incident just serves as a sad reminder that Baldwin is not, in fact, Jack Donaghy in real life.
