Everyone loves bacon. Even some vegans admit that they can't say no to a crunchy piece of the foodstuff. But would you want to spritz that frying-pan aroma on your body?
Fragrance company fargginay claims to have bottled the breakfast staple's irresistible nature with its new product, Bacn (pronounced bay-cone). Containing 11 essential oils, flowers, herbs and a hint of bacon, the cologne captures the "subtle and seductive powers" of the addictive pork product. Um, is this taking the dating-scene-as-a-meat-market metaphor too far?
Designed for both men and women, the fragrance is available in two scents -- Bacn Classic, a spicy maple blend (pancakes, anyone?) and Bacn Gold, a citrus mix (can't forget your glass of O.J.).
Although it may seem like a joke, the makers have done their research, discovering that a whiff of bacon reminds people of home and is associated with pleasant thoughts. "A person's sense of smell is intricately linked to human memory, profoundly influencing people's ability to recall past experiences," John Leydon, brand founder, explains.
But will it attract a man? Doubtful, unless he's a chef. On the plus side, though, I have become every dog's new best friend.
The fragrance costs $36, and is available at fargginay.com.
